ʻiʻiwi/scarlet Hawaiian honeycreeper (Vestiaria coccinea)

Finding photos of scarlet Hawaiianhoneycreepers taken in thewild was relatively easy, which made drawing of the spcies for carving not so challening. Photos were also very helpful for painting the carving. Becauseplumage of juvenile is unique, I think carving of juvenile is also necessary. There are honeycreeper species with very narrow carved beak. So the beak has been reinforced by embedding a piano wire. It can

withstand as touch-carving.
